Home sweet home

Happy Valentine's Day!

February 14th is a big day in our house, as it's also my birthday! It was my mom's birthday too, so I thought I'd post one of the cross-stitches she made about a million years ago. Here's a detail from the piece:

And here's the whole thing. I have been meaning to frame this forever. It doesn't really match our decorating style, but we might find a place to put it up anyway.

Here's a closer look at the stitching. I just noticed that she forgot to finish crossing one of the squares in the letter T! I inherited a very bad case of perfectionism from my mom so I think this is pretty amusing.

Have a lovely Valentine's Day! xoxo

  1. Hey Shelly! I never knew you were a cross stitch fanatic!! :). I havent been able to do any since Chelsea was little, and she's almost 11. It is nice to see others loving a craft so much. You inspire me to want to do more, now that my kids are getting older! Happy Birthday and Happy Valentines day! ~Toni

  2. Hey Toni! It's great to hear from you! I've always loved to cross-stitch, but I haven't always found the time to do it. Now that I'm sitting on a commuter train for a couple hours each weekday, I decided that it's the perfect time to get some cross-stitch projects done. I'm working on a cross-stitch of our new house right now-- I hope to finish it soon and have some photos up by the end of the week. Now that your girls are getting bigger, I bet they'd enjoy cross-stitching with you. I think I was 8 or 9 when my mom started teaching me. Happy stitching! xoxo
