Here's what I wrote back then:
Pay It Forward is about making some crafty and thoughtful things, and giving them away to someone else (three someone elses, to be precise, as you'll see in the rules below). I love this idea because you can use any crafty skills you like to make your items, and you have a WHOLE YEAR to make them. (Now that's a deadline I can live with!)
So I was supposed to complete my project by July 2, 2012. A deadline I can live with, indeed.
Well, even though I am mortifyingly late in following through, the good news is that I did actually make something for the one person who responded to my post, the lovely Allie who blogs over at Sleepy Northwest and who runs the charming Etsy shoppe, The Folklore Cabin.
And even better than that, I pretty much love what I made for her.
If you've been around Fourteen Countess for a minute, you might remember the nutty french knot project that I made back in 2010.
Oh, yes. I've done it again. Would you like to see? This time, it's A for Allie:
I even had some pretty cardstock for finishing the back:
So now I've made a letter B and a letter A. Maybe I'll eventually get to the whole alphabet!
Yay! That's something worth waiting for, so neat! And you poor thing are still waiting. Shame on me. But you have not been forgotten!
ReplyDeleteThanks Annika! I had a lot of fun making it! And don't you worry about me being a poor thing waiting. It will be lovely to receive something from you, whenever it comes!
DeleteHow fabulous - I only saw the front of the letter on flickr, but the back...! what a super neat finish. Love it....can't wait to see what comes next.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Anna! I finally feel like I have a handle on a couple of respectable methods to finish a project in an embroidery hoop. I used to have SO many unfinished projects laying around because I couldn't figure out how to finish them up!
DeleteI've already told you, but oh I'll say it again...I just love this! It is gorgeous in photos, and even more so in person. And the cardstock on the back is such a wonderful touch. Thank you again for taking the time to make this for me...a zillion french knots must take quite a bit of time. :)
ReplyDeletexo, Allie
Hooray! I'm so tickled that you like it. I'm already thinking about which letter I'll do next. (And you'd be surprised; a zillion french knots can be tied in just a handful of my commutes back and forth to work!)
DeleteWow, I don't know how you have the patience to do so many French knots at one time, but your work is AMAZING! Absolutely love it. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Deb, and thanks for visiting! :)
Deletethis is crazy insane loveliness! love love love!
ReplyDeleteInsane is right, but worth it when I get such nice compliments. :) Thanks!
