Summer break

Is your summer just flying by? It certainly feels that way at our house. I haven't had a moment to pick up a needle or even think about what my next needlepoint project should be in weeks. 


I did manage to take a few moments to appreciate the summer scene in our yard this weekend. Here's what I saw:

Somebody has been nibbling on our purple cone-flowers!

I really should thank him for keeping our grass neatly trimmed

Summer Blooms

I've been away from the blog for quite a while! I've been busy stitching up a really fun piece, using french knots exclusively. It's nearly done, and I can't wait to show it to you! In the meantime, here are the first summer blooms from our yard for your enjoyment.

Herbs!

I don't have the best track record in the world when it comes to growing things. But little by little, I'm trying to cultivate my green thumb. I bought some basil and cilantro seeds recently, and I'm so excited that they have started to bud!

Here's a little bunch of basil that's coming in:

And just look at this adorable little cilantro. Doesn't it look like he's stretching his arms out to say hi?

Now if we can just keep the deer from snacking on them, maybe we'll have enough for some pesto and salsa later this summer!
