Asian lady beetle

Just look at who was crawling around on our deck yesterday:

Before we moved to Beacon, I always welcomed a ladybug into my home as a sign of good luck. But this little gal isn't your usual ladybug; she's actually the Asian lady beetle, which invaded our house last year by the hundreds. Creepy, yes. Lucky, not-so-much.

But eventually I plan to stitch up a tribute to each of the birds, bugs and critters who've come by our home for a visit, so I guess I'll have to get out the red thread one day soon and get to work!
